In the third in the “richly detailed and diverse” (io9) urban fantasy series, the time has come for the dead to rise up against the shady powers-that-be... The time has come for the dead to rise up... Trouble is brewing between the Council of the Dead and the ghostly, half-dead, spiritual, and supernatural community they claim to represent. One too many shady deals have gone down in New York City’s streets, and those caught in the crossfire have had enough. It’s time for the Council to be brought down—this time for good. Carlos Delacruz is used to being caught in the middle of things: both as an inbetweener, trapped somewhere between life and death, and as a double agent for the Council. But as his friends begin preparing for an unnatural war against the ghouls in charge, he realizes that more is on the line than ever before—not only for the people he cares about, but for every single soul in Brooklyn, alive or otherwise...

Carlos Delacruz is just following orders when he offs the only other half-dead guy in New York. It should’ve been a job like any other, but then Carlos agrees to protect the dying man’s sister Sasha from the Council, the very sprawling bureaucracy of death that Carlos works for. Maybe he does it because she’s also like him: partially resurrected, a ghoulish mistake with no past, living in the undercurrents of the city. Or maybe it’s just the endearing way she looks out at him from the dead man’s crinkled Polaroid. Either way, Carlos sets out to find the mysterious woman before the Council does and quickly ends up tangled in a nefarious web of necromancers, hipsters, and tiny demons with unpronounceable names.

The author of Half-Resurrection Blues returns in a new Bone Street Rumba Novel—a knife-edge, noir-shaded urban fantasy of crime after death. The streets of New York are hungry tonight... Carlos Delacruz straddles the line between the living and the not-so alive. As an agent for the Council of the Dead, he eliminates New York’s ghostlier problems. This time it’s a string of gruesome paranormal accidents in Brooklyn’s Von King Park that has already taken the lives of several locals—and is bound to take more. The incidents in the park have put Kia on edge. When she first met Carlos, he was the weird guy who came to Baba Eddie's botánica, where she worked. But the closer they’ve gotten, the more she’s seeing the world from Carlos’s point of view. In fact, she’s starting to see ghosts. And the situation is far more sinister than that—because whatever is bringing out the dead, it’s only just getting started. From the Paperback edition.

From Hitler to Trujillo is a memoir by a Holocaust survivor Alfredo Vorshirm. His gripping story embodies the Jewish European experience during and after World War II and dramatizes the events that impelled Vorshirm to the Dominican Republic at the height of the Trujillo dictatorship. Living in Belgium rather than Germany, the country of his birth, when World War II broke out, Vorshirm and his family found themselves imprisoned by the European Allies because they were Austrian-German enemies. Then he was imprisoned by the Germans when he was caught in a raid without legal identification papers and in possession of illegal foreign currency. After being held and tortured in a Gestapo jail for nearly a year, he joined the Italian partisans where he was wounded. He had become separated from his parents who went to Switzerland where they thought they would be safe. Eventually, he served with a unit of the US 82nd Airborne Division and took part in the liberation of Europe. After the war, searching for a homeland, circumstances caused him to choose residence in the Dominican Republic. Vorshirm served the Dominican Republic as a Senior Army Officer in a top post with the Technological Services of the Armed Forces, as a Representative to the UN in New York and Geneva, and as a diplomat in Belgium, until he was abruptly removed and ordered back to the Dominican Republic. But who's got time to die of boredom when there are so many more interesting ways to die in this town? Old people seem to be dying faster than Miss Volker can write their obituaries, and Jack is starting to worry that it might not just be the rats that are eating the rat poison . . . Dead End in Norvelt is Jack Gantos's hilarious blend of the entirely true and the wildly fictional, from one of the most darkly amusing imaginations writing today.

Now Eugenie is a hot target for every ambitious demon and Otherworldy ne'er-do-well, and the ones who don't want to knock her up want her dead. She finds them in Dorian, a seductive fairy king with a taste for bondage, and Kiyo, a gorgeous shape-shifter who redefines animal attraction. But with enemies growing bolder and time running out, Eugenie realizes that the greatest danger is yet to come, and it lies in the dark powers that are stirring to life within her. . .
